What kind information do you collect and why do you need it?
In order to ensure fairness in the selection of participants for the seminars, the EJC needs to gather professional information (media name, position, country) from the candidates.

What are the requirements to be eligible for your seminars?
The EJC seminars are open to working journalists who meet the eligibility criteria. The criteria, such us nationality, media category, are given for each course in the seminar description.
I’m a young journalist. Do I have possibilities to be accepted in your seminars?
Yes. The EJC is permanently committed to provide training opportunities for young media professionals.
I work as a freelance journalist. What are my chances to participate?
Part of the EJC's policy is to provide mid-career training to self-employed journalists.
How far in advance will you let me know if I have been selected?
The EJC will give at least a month notice - in some cases more. If there are cancellations, however, applicants might be invited to participate as places become available. The EJC will contact you by email to inform you whether or not you have been selected to participate.
What is the EJC?
The European Journalism Centre, founded in 1992 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, is an independent, non-profit, international institute active in mid-career training for all sectors of the media.
What is your experience in journalism training?
Over the past ten years, the EJC has developed a comprehensive series of training seminars, workshops and round tables to give media professionals the background information and the tools to understand the mechanisms, the impact and the challenges of the European integration process.
Do you have any partners?
The EJC works closely with several European regional and national journalists associations and with international professional media organisations such as the World Association of Newspapers, the International Federation of Journalists and the European Broadcasting Union. The EJC is also a member of the European Journalism Training Association, EJTA, a grouping of 70 European journalism training institutions and of a network of 25 mid-career training centres in western and central Europe.
How much does it cost to participate?
Costs depend on the type of training. Some seminars are sponsored by our partners, with accomodation and transport included. Other seminars require tuition, as indicated by individual seminar descriptions. Personal costs are covered by each partcicipant.
Do I organise my own travel arrangements?
If you participate in a tuition seminar you must make your own travel arrangements. If you participate in a sponsored seminar the EJC will contact you in order to organise your travel arrangements. At the same time you will receive more specific information about travel dates and tickets. As for other travel arrangements, such as transport to and from the airport/train station/hotel are the responsability of each participant.
Do I arrange my own accommodation?
If you participate in a tuition seminar you organise your own accommodation. If you participate in a sponsored seminar accommodation will be arranged for you. The EJC will inform you about your accommodation before arrival. In sponsored courses, all personal expenses (phone calls, mini-bar etc.) are covered by you.
How will I find the hotel/seminar venue on arrival?
Before your departure the EJC will send you detailed practical information with explanations, maps, addresses and contacts in order to facilitate your arrival.
Do I need to bring my national presscard/passport?
You are advised to carry your national press card at all times while taking part in our seminars. In some official buildings you will need your ID card or passport for access.
