A one day briefing for journalists is organised within the GMES Forum (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security). As a major European programme providing information on environment and security, GMES is mainly based on Earth observation data provided by and for users, from ordinary citizens to institutional bodies and private, small and big companies.

The event will provide an occasion for journalists to report on GMES core service projects in sectors such as: Marine and atmospheric environment, land use and environmental services, emergencies and humanitarian aid, security and climate change.

About 700 participants, public and private stakeholders are expected to take part in the Forum. Journalists will have free access to the conference programme, and will be able to exchange views with key-actors present at the event.
