EU External Co-operation in Action:
Special focus on Climate change
The EU is the world's biggest donor of aid, fighting poverty while supporting peace, democracy and security.
Backed by the EC's EuropeAid Co-operation Office, the European Journalism Centre is holding a special briefing on 16-18 March 2009. This aims to answer the hottest questions for the media, including:
How does climate change affect aid and development policies?
What are the EU's policies in the fight against global warming? How effective are they?
Why does climate change threaten food security and access to water?
How much does the global financial crisis threaten climate change funds?
Participants will have the chance to meet high level speakers from the European Commission and debate external assistance with key analysts and NGO representatives. Sessions will cover how aid and field work are managed and how results are achieved.
The briefing is funded by the EC and open to EU27 journalists, particularly those covering foreign affairs, environment and/or development issues for national and regional media (printed press, TV, radio, news agencies and on-line press). Travel, accommodation and some meals are covered by the organisers.
