The European Journalism Centre is organising, in co-operation with DG Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission, a special five-day seminar especially tailored to journalists specializing in economic and financial issues from the Euro zone countries as well as from the opt-out EU member states.

The briefing (conducted in English) will take place in Brussels as well as Frankfurt from the 4th till the 8th of May 2009. It will focus on the Euro Area economy and the 10 years of the Euro. It will analyse the EU’s response to the financial crisis and the role of the Euro in the stability of the European markets.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet European institutions experts and attend the press conference of Commissionner Joaquin Almunia and the press conference of the president of the ECB, Mr. Jean-Claude Trichet, following the Governing Council meeting of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt. They will also meet members of the Brussels-based press corps and independent experts during the briefing.
