Covering the Security Research Conference

A one day briefing for journalists organised within the context of the European Security Research Conference in Stockholm, an event set up under the Swedish Presidency of the European Union. With the support of the European Commission, the conference will bring together more than 1200 representatives from the world of research, industry and security end-users.
Security research plays a crucial role in responding to terrorism, organised crime and natural disasters. Europe’s researchers and decision-makers will present and discuss the developing technologies and capabilities which support the protection of European citizens.
The conference is part of the actions undertaken under the European Security Research Programme (ESRP) of EU:s 7:th framework programme for research and development (FP7).
Through concrete demonstrations, the participants will learn more about security related projects such as:
INDECT: Intelligent information system supporting observation, searching and detection for security of citizens in urban environment.
CREATIF: Network of testing facilities for security-related products and services focused to CBRNE detection. A networking strategy to strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange within Europe.
NMFRDisaster: Identifying the Needs of Medical First Responders in Disasters.
DEMASST: Demo for mass transportation security, roadmapping study.
Journalists will have free access to the conference programme and will be able to interview many of the key-actors present at the event.
