11 July - 13 July 2010, Brussels ( Economic and Financial Policy 2010)

While the Greek debt crisis has caused the strongest and most serious challenge to the European currency in its 10 year existance, it isn't all bad news. According to the recently released convergence report of the European Commission, Estonia is ready for euro.

The EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Olli Rehn, is recommending that Estonia joins the Eurozone from 1 January 2011 as 'Estonia has achieved a high degree of sustainable economic convergence'.

To highlight the opportunities and challenges ahead for Estonia (and for the EU), the European Journalism Centre is organising a three day briefing for Estonian journalists. Participants will meet EU policy makers, independent experts and Brussels correspondents as well as visit the important EU Institutions.

The ECOFIN Council of EU finance ministers will make the final decision on Estonia's entry into the Eurozone when it meets in Brussels in July.

The event is organised in co-operation with the European Commission's DG ECFIN and costs for travel, accomodation and some meals are covered.

Only Estonian journalists are eligible to participate and the seminar will be conducted in English.

The maximum number of participants is 15 and we urge interested journalists to apply as soon as possible given the limited number of spaces. You can apply online at www.ejcseminars.eu
