Agriculture and Food Security: The EU's External Response
03 May - 05 May 2011, Brussels (EuropeAid 2011)

The volatility of food prices accompanied by the energy and financial crisis put millions of people in the world’s poorest countries at extreme risk from hunger and malnutrition.
To which extent is the EU engaged in the achievement of MDG number 1 - reducing by half the the number of people malnourished?
With over 70 per cent of world's poor living in rural areas, support to agriculture and rural development is fundamental to help over 900 million hunger victims, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa and in South Asia.
These topics will be addressed at the EJC-EuropeAid joint seminar on 4-6 May in Brussels.
During the seminar the participating professionals will take part in meetings with high-level politicians, leading independent experts, experienced journalists and members of civil society groups. Works will be in English only.
