Data Protection
07 February - 07 February 2012, Brussels, Belgium (Europe 2020 seminars)

Data protection is no longer just a national or European concern, but an international topic that cannot be sidelined. While the use of the Internet and mobile applications is ever-increasing, the topic also involves further police cooperation in the fight against terrorism and serious crime. Consequently, the 1995 European Data Protection Directive is planned to be updated in 2012 in order to correspond to the changes in the globalised world.
Commissioner Reding will address on 7 February 2012 a group of 30 journalists from EU-27 on the new approach to data protection in Europe.
This one-day seminar is organised by the European Journalism Centre on behalf of the European Commission, and will be held in Brussels.
The organisers cover the travel arrangements, accommodation and meals for the duration of the programme. The event is open for journalists from national print, broadcast and online media from the EU-27.
