European Contract Law (now termed: "Sales" Law) is one of the Europe 2020 strategic priorities, tying with the completion of the single market in Europe. This autumn, a proposal on the new legal instrument is planned to be adopted.
This EU-wide optional law will have a significant influence on cross-border transactions between business and suppliers as well as consumers, and would particularly benefit SMEs.

Commissioner Reding will address a group of 30 journalists from EU-27 on 20 October, 2011 on the new European Contract Law initiative.

This one-day seminar is organised by the European Journalism Centre in partnership with the European Commission, and will be held in Brussels.

The organisers cover the travel arrangements and accommodation for the duration of the programme. The event is open for journalists from national print, broadcast and online media from the EU-27.
