Covering the Polish Presidency: Environmental Priorities
28 September - 29 September 2011, Brussels (DG ENV 2011)
The second semester of 2011 will see Poland taking on the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time in history.
Environmental priorities of the Polish presidency, in addition to the rational use of natural resources and climate change prevention, include goals such as Europe's adaptation to these changes and preparing a new agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol in Durban.
Poland will take action to protect biodiversity, including the implementation of the international Nagoya accords. It will support the sustainable development policy in the Rio +20 process.
In this framework, the European Journalism Centre and the European Commission’s DG Environment are putting together a seminar on "The Environmental Priorities of the Polish Presidency", due to take place 29-30 September in Brussels.
Specifically aimed at Polish journalists specialised in environmental issues, this 2-day information briefing will enable the participants to meet and discuss with EU high-ranking officials, policy makers and experts from Brussels-based think tanks and international NGOs.
