ECFIN seminar on EU's response to economic and financial challenges
08 November - 10 November 2011, Brussels (ECFIN 2011)

The major economic and fiscal crisis continues to haunt us. The European sovereign debt crisis has prompted intense action by the EU's national governments, the European Central Bank and the European Commission in order to support growth and employment, ensure financial stability and put in place measures of a reinforced EU's economic governance.
Against this background, the European Journalism Centre and the European Commission’s DG Economic and Financial Affairs are organising a three-day seminar from 8-10 November in Brussels exclusively for journalists from Non-Euro EU member states, Australia and New Zealand covering economic issues.
This three-day seminar will feature panel discussions as well as on and off the record talks with senior members of the EU (including the Commission and the Parliament) as well as experts from the NGO, think tank and academic communities in Brussels. Economic governance will again be a key theme as well as economic forecasts.
Participating journalists will have the opportunity to attend the European Commission midday briefing following the meetings of finance ministers from the EU-27 (ECFIN Council) and the Autumn Economic Forecast press conference by Olli Rehn, EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs.
The discussions will be lively, informal and should significantly help those attending get the inside track on where the EU economy and currency is and its forecast to go in the near future.
The EJC is pleased to invite you to attend this seminar, specially tailored to journalists focusing on economic and financial issues from UK and other Non-Euro EU member states. The organisers will cover the flights, accommodation (including breakfast) and some lunches and dinners.
