Seminar for the Euro-area journalists
08 May - 10 May 2012, Brussels (ECFIN 2012)

Is Greece out of the woods? And is the forecast for the Eurozone still so gloomy?
If you are interested in these discussions, come to Brussels!
The European Journalism Centre together with the European Commission’s DG Economic and Financial Affairs will invite 18 journalists from the Euro-area for a 3-day seminar focused on economic crisis.
It will take place from 9-11 May and the journalists will have the possibility to monitor also the press conference of the Commissioner for Economic and Financial affairs Olli Rehn presenting the Spring Economic Forecast.
The visit of the European Parliament and the debate with the MEPs is foreseen, as well as meetings with the EC, the ECB and the World Bank officials, think-tanks and experts. The journalists will meet also the Vice-President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic for a background discussion.
The debates will focus on the most important dilemma in the EU. How to achieve growth and follow the austerity measures in the same time. The role of the European Central Bank will also be in the heart of these discussions.
Moreover the seminar will take place shortly after French presidential elections, so we will already know whether the duo Merkozy is going on or the new player will appear on the European scene.
