ECFIN seminar for journalists from the EU-27
08 October - 09 October 2012, Brussels (ECFIN 2012)

Summer breaks into autumn as the Euro area crisis continues to boil over.
September will unveil the details of the European Central Bank's revamped bond-buying programme of troubled countries like Spain and Italy, as well as the verdict of the debt inspectors from the EU, the IMF and the ECB (the so-called Troika) on how Greece has been performing, and thus whether to continue with funding.
The new season is also to witness the decision by the German court on a petition challenging the constitutional feasibility of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), and probability of Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, seeking a second rescue for Spain.
In light of the aforementioned decisions, the European Journalism Centre (EJC), in co-operation with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN), is organising this seminar in Brussels, 8-9 October for 18 journalists from the euro area member states and non-Euro area countries.
Selected journalists will have the opportunity to debate with EU officials and independent experts on decisions reached during the Eurogroup and the ECOFIN Council meetings being held on the same dates in Luxembourg.
