Summer breaks into autumn as the Euro-area crisis continues to boil over. September will unveil the details of the European Central Bank 's revamped bond-buying programme of troubled countries like Spain and Italy, as well as the verdict of the debt inspectors from the EU, the IMF and the ECB (the so-called troika) on how Greece has been performing and thus whether to continue with the funding.

The new season is also to witness the decision by the German court on a petition challenging the constitutional feasibility of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), and probably how Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, seeks a second rescue for Spain.

In the light of the aforementioned decisions, the European Journalism Centre (EJC), in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN), is organising a seminar October 18-19 for 18 journalists from the Euro-area.

Only journalists covering economic and financial affairs shall be eligible to apply.

Having the EU Summit taking place in parallel with this seminar will allow participants to attend. By the same token, this ECFIN seminar will benefit from having EU officials and independent experts commenting on decisions likely to reach a climax during this European Council meeting.

Please note that flights, accommodation and most of the meals during the programme will be covered by the organisers.
