AID IN ACTION: Myanmar and the EU
23 October - 25 October 2012, Myanmar (Burma) (EuropeAid 2012)

Nowadays, Myanmar is in the news almost daily and, at the very least, weekly. The country’s remarkable reform process has prompted Western governments to lift some limited sanctions, and the EU has made clear that further progress could lead to more movement.
The EU’s policy vis-à-vis Myanmar includes significant assistance to the people and the development of civil society and aims at legitimatising the government to pursue the respect of human rights and in rebuilding its relations with the international community.
The European Journalism Centre is organising a two-day media seminar to assess how the EU assistance funds are being used and to witness the move from a reactive response to a proactive approach to the country’s development needs.
This event is tailored for a group of top tier European correspondents based in Bangkok (Thailand). It will envisage a series of high level meetings with the Myanmar’s politicians, intellectuals, journalists and representatives of NGOs as well as visits to EU funded projects in the field of health and education.
