The EJC, in cooperation with the DG Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection (ECHO) of the European Commission, is organising a tailor-made seminar for 12 journalists on the occasion of the 20 year anniversary of DG ECHO and the ‘European Development Days’. The seminar, taking place in Brussels on 16-17 October, will bring the work of DG ECHO to the attention of young journalists and create an opportunity for interviews and networking with humanitarian aid and field experts.

The two-day event will feature on and off the record talks and panel discussions with experts from the European Commission and international NGOs. Participating journalists will also have the opportunity to attend the launch and presentation of the International Committee of the Red Cross’ “World Disasters Report 2012 – Forced Migration and Displacement” and Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva’s special address for the 20th Anniversary of ECHO.

The seminar is aimed at journalists who are up to 35 years old and are working for an EU- based media outlet.
Participants are expected to arrive in the morning of 16 October and will depart on 18 October.
The organisers will cover flights, accommodation and meals during the program.

Interested journalists can apply online or send an email to Lisa Bushart at [email protected]
