The European Journalism Centre in cooperation with the DG Development and Cooperation – EuropeAid of the European Commission invite 12 EU journalists to travel to Jordan for a three-day programme to explore the enhanced cooperation between the EU and Jordan and to visit some of the most interesting EU funded projects in the region.

The programme will lay a special emphasis on the EU’s response to the region following the Arab Spring and take a closer look at how Jordan is striving to cope with Syria’s escalating refugee crisis.

Selected journalists will be given the possibility to discuss the current issues with high representatives of the EU Delegation, Jordan’s high-ranking government officials and politicians as well as representatives of the civil society and NGOs. Part of the programme will be the visit to the Zaatari refugee camp in northern Jordan, which opened in July 2012 and is now home to more than 30.000 Syrians.

The seminar is planned for 7-9 November 2012 with the arrival in Amman scheduled for 6 November and the departure on 10 November (with the option of flying back from Amman on a later date).

A more detailed seminar programme will be available shortly.

Please note that travel and accommodation during the three-days programme will be covered by the European Commission and that for this seminar only journalists from the EU countries are eligible.

Interested journalists should apply online via the EJC seminars website.
