Seminar for Croatian media: The rule of law and data protection policies in the EU
07 November - 07 November 2012, Brussels, Belgium (Justice Affairs)
On 1 July 2013 Croatia will become European Union’s 28th and newest member state. During the accession negotiations the country underwent major reforms in the fields of rule of law and fundamental rights in order to align them to the European standards. Ahead of the country’s planned accession to the EU, the European Journalism Centre, in cooperation with the European Commission (DG JUSTICE), will organise a one-day seminar tailored around the topics of rule of law and data protection policies in the European Union, central themes in the negotiation discussions.
The journalists will have the opportunity to meet with EU and Brussels based independent experts.
The seminar will take place in Brussels on 7 November. 20 Croatian journalists representing national print, broadcast and online media will be invited to attend the event. Journalists specialised in legal affairs, technology and consumer issues are invited to apply or send an email to Malou [email protected]
Travel, accommodation and meals during the programme will be covered by the organisers. The journalists are expected to arrive on 6 November and return to their home country on 7 November.
