ECFIN seminar for 18 journalists from the Euro-area
13 December - 14 December 2012, Brussels (ECFIN 2012)

The October Summit was never to be an inflection point.
The agenda was to focus on the roadmap for a banking union, and yet it concluded with no agreement on how the implementation of the new supervisory mechanism should be phased in 2013. Â
The European leaders also discussed the process towards completing the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), and yet the final conclusions are to be presented in the December Summit.
Amidst discussions on the aforementioned issues, the European Journalism Centre (EJC), in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN), is organising a seminar December 13 - 14 for 18 journalists from the Euro-area.
Only journalists covering economic and financial affairs shall be eligible to apply.
Having the EU Summit taking place in parallel with this seminar will allow participants to attend. On this occasion, the roadmap towards a "Genuine Economic and Monetary Union" will hopefully be in place to be backed by the European leaders.
By the same token, this ECFIN seminar will benefit from having high-level EU officials and independent experts and economists shedding some light on burning decisions during this European Council meeting.
Please note that flights, accommodation and most of the meals during the programme will be covered by the organisers.
