The way forward for EU energy policy

16 May - 16 May 2013, Brussels (DG Energy)

People's well-being, industrial competitiveness and the overall functioning of society are dependent on safe, secure, sustainable and affordable energy.

Through the development and implementation of innovative policies, the European Commission aims at contributing to setting up an energy market providing European citizens and business with affordable energy, competitive prices and technologically advanced energy services. Additionally, the EC is promoting sustainable energy production, transport and consumption in line with the EU 2020 targets and with a view to the 2050 decarbonisation objective and enhancing the conditions for secure energy supply in a spirit of solidarity between the EU member states.

Against this backdrop, the European Journalism Centre in co-operation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, is tailoring an exclusive one-day seminar for a specialised group of 25 journalists from the EU27 covering energy issues.

The event will feature panel discussions as well as on and off the record talks with a group of leading representatives from the world of business, politics and civil society. The discussions will be lively, informal and should significantly help those attending to get the inside track on Europe’s energy outlook.

Please note that specialised reporters covering energy issues will be given priority.

The seminar will be held on 16 May 2013 in Brussels. The organisers will cover travel, accommodation and meals. For more information, please contact Malou Oldenhof at [email protected]

This seminar is organised with financial and organisational support from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy.
