Europe works for SMEs

24 June - 24 June 2013, Brussels (Enterprise & Industry 2013)

Europe needs more entrepreneurs to create jobs and our existing and budding entrepreneurs need more support. With this in mind, the "Europe works for SMEs" conference aims to raise awareness of policy makers - at EU and Member State level - on the growing importance of SMEs for Europe's economy. During this crucial period of budget negotiation the event will highlight the undiminished need for Europe to support its most important economic players.

The conference, taking place in Brussels on 25 June, will bring together high level politicians and business representatives to discuss how to continue building on five years of continuous work for SMEs, in the context of the Small Business Act (SBA). The SBA is the basic text and guideline for economic policy for SMEs and its implementation on European, national and sub-national level is vital for rendering the live of SMEs, present and future, easier.

25 journalists from EU-27 countries and Croatia will have the opportunity to participate in the conference, with keynote addresses from high-level politicians, experts and stakeholders. The selected participants will have an exclusive meeting with European Commission Vice-President Antonio Tajani.

This one-day event is organised by the European Journalism Centre in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry. The organisers will cover travel expenses, accommodation and most meals.
