Covering the Eastern Partnership Summit

28 November - 29 November 2013, Vilnius, Lithuania (DEVCO 2013)

12 journalists from the EU-28 are invited to join a two-day seminar covering the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Summit that will take place on 28-29 November 2013 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The venue of the Summit is Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre – LITEXPO.

One of the biggest events for the EU foreign policy in 2013 and the Lithuanian Presidency, the Eastern Partnership Summit will gather high-level European Union (EU) representatives, EU Heads of States and Governments from EU Member States and EaP countries and will be opened by the European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė.

The EaP Vilnius summit is expected to take stock of what has been achieved so far and discuss further developments beyond 2013. At the EaP Summit in Vilnius the EU hopes to initial the Association Agreements, including Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas with Armenia, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova, and sign the Association Agreement with Ukraine, provided Ukraine meets the benchmarks of the Foreign Affairs Council Conclusions (10 December 2012).

Organised in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Development and Cooperation - EuropeAid, the media seminar will provide an opportunity for the selected journalists to attend the press conference of the Summit, follow the side events organised alongside the Summit (Civil Society Conference and Business Forum), and discuss developments of the EaP beyond Vilnius.

Journalists specialised in foreign affairs, in particular covering the Eastern neighbourhood of the EU, are encouraged to apply to attend the seminar.

Travel, accommodation and some meals will be covered by the European Commission.
