The European Journalism Centre on behalf of the European Commission’s Directorate General Enterprise invites 28 European journalists to take part in the 2013 SME Assembly “Encouraging a Europe of Enterprise”, taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania on 25 and 26 November 2013.

Journalists will also have the opportunity to take part in the European Enterprise Promotion Awards Ceremony. These awards recognise and reward excellence in enterprise and entrepreneurship promotion. Some key objectives are to showcase the best initiatives promoting enterprises, and to raise awareness of the added value of entrepreneurship. Journalists will be given a chance to mingle and interview the award winners and runners-up.

Invited speakers for the SME Assembly 2013 include Antonio TAJANI, Vice President of the European Commission, Algirdas BUTKEVICIUS, Prime Minister of Lithuania, and Evaldas GUSTAS, Lithuanian Minister of Economy. The programme also features panel discussions with experts, a press conference held by Vice President Tajani, and an exclusive briefing on the Small Business Act (SBA) Factsheets of each EU member state.
The SBA is the basic text and guideline for economic policy for SMEs. Its implementation on European, national and sub-national level is vital for making the present and future lives of SMEs easier.
Media attending the SME Assembly will receive a copy (embargoed) of their country’s SBA factsheet before the Assembly, and will be able to ask follow-up questions during the briefing.

Please note that participants are expected to arrive on 24 November. Departure time is planned for 26 November (afternoon). Travel and accommodation will be covered by the organisers.

Interested journalists are asked to apply online for the event or send a message to Lisa Bushart (bushart@ejc.net)

This seminar will be held with financial and organisational support from the European Commission’s Directorate General Enterprise.
