Covering the Autumn 2013 Economic Forecast and a visit to the ECB

05 November - 08 November 2013, Brussels & Frankfurt (Economic and Financial Policy 2013)

As the leaves change colours and a new season arrives, so does the next autumn European economic forecast, and with it many of the same questions surrounding the stability of the Eurozone, including what effects increased transparency will have on member states’ budgetary decisions in the coming year, and how new regulations on the banking sector will be implemented by the European Central Bank.

On this occasion, the European Journalism Centre (EJC), the European Commission’s DG for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) and the European Central Bank (ECB) are happy to invite 18 journalists from the EU-28 member states specialised in economic and financial affairs to a four-day programme in Brussels and Frankfurt, November 5-8 2013.

In Brussels, the journalists will have the opportunity to cover the upcoming economic forecast, as well as learn the details of the ‘Two-Pack’ budgetary surveillance programme that will begin in the 2014 budgetary cycle. Participants will also hear from and meet with leaders from the European policy-making, think tank, and business sectors through on and off-the-record talks and panel discussions.

The second half of the programme will shift to a two-day visit at the ECB in Frankfurt. Journalists will receive an in-depth lineup of sessions designed to inform them on the inner-workings of the ECB, monetary policies and regulations, as well as the chance to hear from and meet with ECB President Mario Draghi and Vice-President Vitor Constancio.

The organisers will cover travel, accommodation and most meals.
