On the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2014 and in the run up to the European elections in May 2014, the European Parliament (EP), in conjunction with the European Journalism Centre (EJC), will organise a seminar in Brussels on 4-5 March 2014 for 100 journalists from the EU28 Member States.

Gender equality, women’s rights, EP-related legislation and the spring elections will be the main topics of the event.

The seminar will take place ahead of the joint annual Interparliamentary Meeting of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality and National Parliaments titled "Preventing violence against women - a challenge for all", to which participants will also be invited. Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, will open the session.

The event will consist of interactive sessions and panel discussions on the aforementioned subjects with MEPs, EU officials, Brussels-based experts and stakeholders.

A more detailed programme will be available shortly.

Travel, accommodation and most meals will be covered by the organisers.
