On 2 June 2014, the European Commission will adopt recommendations to EU Member States designed to move Europe beyond the crisis and strengthen the foundations for growth. These recommendations are based on detailed analyses of each country's situation and provide guidance to governments on how to boost their growth potential, increase competitiveness and create jobs in 2014-2015. This is done on the basis of a review of each Member State's economic and social performance in the previous year, and the EU-wide priorities for jobs and growth set out in the Commission's Annual Growth Survey.

On this occasion, the European Journalism Centre in co-operation with the European Commission?s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, is tailoring a media seminar for a specialised group of 18 journalists from the EU28 covering economic and financial issues.

The event will feature panel discussions as well as on and off the record talks with senior members of the EU institutions (including the EU Commission and the EU Parliament) as well as experts from the NGO, think tank and academic communities in Brussels. The discussions will be lively, informal and should significantly help those attending to get the inside track on where the EU economy and currency is and what future predictions are being made about it.

The seminar will be held from 2-3 June 2014 in Brussels. The organisers will cover travel, accommodation and some meals. For more information, please contact Elise Rochez at rochez@ejc.net.

This seminar is organised with financial and organisational support from the European Commission?s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs.
