The European Journalism Centre, in co-operation with the European Commission's DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, invites 36 journalists from the EU28 to follow a special seminar on the social dialogue in Europe. This high-level event will take place in Brussels on 4 and 5 March 2015 and will coincide with the conference "Re-launching the social dialogue" organised by the European Commission.

Following the announcement of President Juncker to become the "President of Social dialogue", Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Euro and Social dialogue, and Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Marianne Thyssen, have been entrusted with the "promotion of the social dialogue at all levels and engaging with social partners on all aspects of interest for delivery of the EU priorities".

This seminar will inform the journalists about the re-launching of the social dialogue and will give the opportunity to the journalists to attend the conference organised on 5 March which will gather leading representatives of the European and national social partners and representatives from the Council of ministers and the European Parliament. This high-level conference will take place 30 years after the cooperation with European social partners was launched at Val Duchesse in 1985.

The journalists will have a unique opportunity to meet and receive first-hand information from all of the EU actors involved in the social dialogue, including the EU President, Jean-Claude Juncker, the Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis and the EU commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Marianne Thyssen.

The event is exclusively catered for specialist and expert journalists in the field of EU affairs, social affairs and employment.
