The European Journalism Centre (EJC), jointly with the European Commission's DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, invite a group of 28 journalists from the EU MS to participate in the seminar: "EU support to microfinance and social entrepreneurship: investing in job creation" on 19 October in Brussels.

This event aims to raise awareness of how support to microfinance and social entrepreneurship through the EU Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) can contribute to job creation and growth.

To this end, the seminar will take place in connection with the inauguration of the First European Microfinance Day late afternoon 19 October, thus allowing the selected journalists to attend the opening of the conference by Commissioner Thyssen and other high level speakers. The session will be honoured by the presence of Her Majesty Mathilde Queen of Belgium.

Among others, the programme will feature:
- Experience from the ground: successful and innovative microfinance and social entrepreneurship ventures;
- A Q&A session with Director General, Michel Servoz;
- Discussions with representatives from the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) group.

This seminar is specially catered for journalists covering job creation, start-ups, employment policy, business and social affairs.

Journalists will arrive in Brussels on Sunday 18 October and depart on Monday 19 October in the evening. Flights, accommodation and most meals will be taken care of and covered for by the organisers.
