This year's ICT 2015, the largest and most important ICT event in the EU agenda since 1998, is being organised by the European Commission and Fundacao para a Ciencia e a Tecnologia and will take place from 20-22 October 2015 in Lisbon. The event aims to bring together over 4500 ICT stakeholders representing research, politics, industry, start-ups, investors, and academia. The three-day programme consists of a policy conference, an interactive exhibition and vast networking activities and opportunities.

The conference will present the new Commission's policies and initiatives on research and innovation in ICT, the Horizon 2020 Programme, whereas an interactive exhibition will showcase the best results, tests and prototypes of European ICT projects. Many networking opportunities will help participants identify potential project partners and trigger new collaborations. ICT 2015 will also be the place to gather information on the funding opportunities of the 2016-17 Work Programme and of Horizon 2020. In addition, the Startup Europe Forum, will showcase a set of activities profiling EU policy actions for startups and SMEs, innovators, private and public investors.

The European Journalism Centre, in cooperation with DG for Communications Networks, Content & Technology of the European Commission would like to invite 20 journalists from across Europe to attend a three-day seminar at the ICT 2015 event in Lisbon. The aim of the press trip is to help those attending to get close to the policies and technologies contributing to competitiveness and growth of the EU.

The programme will include plenary speeches by EU Commissioner for Digital Society and Economy, Guenther Oettinger, presenting the Digitising Industry Strategy as well as EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation and responsible for the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, Carlos Moedas, who will address open science and society. Additionally, the trip will include a guided visit to the large exhibition of EU funded projects and opportunities for interviews and fireside chats with a number of experts in the fields of science, academia and research as well as individual companies that started, have grown and benefited from the European funding.

The press trip will take place from 20 to 22 October 2015, with arrival in Lisbon on 19 October and departure on 22 October in the late afternoon.

A more detailed seminar programme will be available shortly. Please note that specialised reporters covering ICT, science, business and economics will be given priority.

Please note that the organisers will cover travel and accommodation during the three-day visit.
