Western Balkans 2016 Summit

04 July - 05 July 2016, Paris (DG NEAR 2016)

On behalf of the European Commission's Directorate General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, the European Journalism Centre is organising an exclusive press trip to cover the Western Balkans 2016 Summit that will take place on 4 July 2016 in Paris.

As a follow up to the Berlin and Vienna Summits, the heads of government, foreign ministers and economy ministers from the Western Balkans and the EU, representatives of the European Commission and the European External Action Service, as well as International Financial Institutions will meet in Paris for the third summit meeting on the Western Balkans. The topics this year will include infrastructure and connectivity, policy reforms and positive agenda for the youth in the Western Balkans.

The 12 selected EU journalists will be able to follow the Summit at the Palais de l'Elysee and its side events: the Connecting Youth Conference and the Business Forum. Bilateral interviews with the high-level guests, including Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Western Balkans heads of state and ministers will be organised. A more detailed programme is available per request.

The arrival in Paris is scheduled for 3 July with the departure on 5 July. Priority will be given to journalists covering EU and foreign affairs, and in particular the EU enlargement process. Please note that the organisers will cover travel, accommodation and some meals during your stay in Paris.

If you or your colleague are interested in attending the press trip, please register & apply directly on our EJC Seminars website. The selection of journalists will be done on a rolling basis, therefore journalists are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, at the latest by 22 June.
