In cooperation with the European Commission's Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) department, the European Journalism Centre is organising a 2-day press visit for 15 EU journalists to Jordan from 21-22 November 2016.

The press trip will start in Amman, where the journalists will take part in a briefing with representatives from the EU Delegation on the general political context and the current state of play of EU – Jordan development cooperation. This part of the programme will also include meetings with high-level government officials, civil society organisations and various think tanks and press organisations.

The trip will continue with field visits to different EU-funded projects supporting areas like youth and employment, waste management (i.e. in Jordanian communities hosting Syrian refugees), renewable energy as well as a visit to the Zaatari refugee camp. The journalists will also have the unique opportunity to visit the newly inaugurated state-of-the-art business incubator (fab lab and co-working space), bringing together Jordanian and Syrian innovators. The incubator is an example of EU’s support to entrepreneurship, innovation and integration.

A more detailed seminar programme will be available shortly. Please note that journalists specialised in the region and feature writers will be given priority in the selection process.

Interested journalists should apply online as soon as possible as places are limited.
